Only 11 players showed up to contest a
very even game with Norvan. Well-taken goals by Gino and Rosie were
offset by some calamitous defending, and we went down to a 3-2
defeat in spite of some very good play. Well done to the lads who
showed up: goalkeeper Kevin, defenders Dave H, Cormac, Mike C, and
Speers, mids Cam, Mark, Gino, and Graham, and forwards Rosie and the
late-arriving Tim (we had ten men for about 15 minutes or so).
A special welcome goes to new lads Mike and Mark (formerly of the
New Kids on the Block), who both played very well and looked like
strong new additions.
Both sides agreed to shorten the game to 35-minute halves so we
could go home and watch the Canucks choke in the 3rd period.
The bad news is that if you could have come and helped us out by
showing up and you didn't, is that you're a tw*t.
The good news is, if you weren't there you have just volunteered for
some form of managerial duties for the rest of the summer.
Gord was unanimously chosen to take over coaching duties for the
summer, with Richie and Geezer as assistants.
Bernie, perhaps, as your final managerial act for the summer, you
could post a list of the non-attendees at the game, with each person
assigned to be part of a group responsible for either (a) kit, (b)
balls, or (c) water? (Or if that sounds too complex e-mail the list
to me and I'll do it).
Each group will be responsible on a week-to-week basis for sorting
out who does what.
